2014-06-21: no system update, the tablet still runs Android 4.1.1.
2013-04-10: the package from Multicom arrived.
2013-04-04: I ordered one Acer Portfolio case 10' Black (HP.BAG11.001) from Multicom for NOK 233.- plus shipping.
2013-03-23: another System Update was waiting (indicated by the little arrows up and down' icon on the lower right side of the screen. Image name: Acer_A700_AV051.RV09RC08_WW_GEN1, image size: 235.14 MB. So, download now, ok. Then install now. After it finished, another System Update. Image name: Acer_A700_AV051.RV16RC02_WW_GEN1, image size: 3.56 MB. Download and install.
After the upgrade, the tablet runs Android 4.1.1, kernel version 3.1.10+ Image version Acer_AV051_A700_RV16RC02_WW_GEN1, build number Acer_AV051_A700_1.050.00_WW_GEN1, image P/N FM.S1MA0.040.
2013-03-23: So, it has Android 4.0.4, Kernel version 2.6.39.4+, image version Acer_AV043_A700_RV23RC05_WW_GEN1, build number Acer_AV043_A700_1.061.00_WW_GEN1, Image P/N FM.STMA0.01T. 2013-03-22: I didn't wait four hours. When powered on, there was an 'acer' logo. Next, select language (English), and Country (it defaulted to Singapore, but I changed it). Then press 'Start', and It was select network next. I selected my network, typed in password and connected. Next up was System Update. Image name: Acer_A700_AV043.RV23RC05_WW_GEN1, image size: 37.16 MB. I accepted, and it rebooted into recovery kernel and did the upgrade. Then it rebooted twice, before doing a 'normal' boot. Then I got the 'Android is upgrading' which optimizes applications (58 in all). Afterwards, I had to select language and country again, set date and time
2013-03-22: the quick setup sheet says that the tablet should be charged for at least 4 hours before turning it on, and warns: 'Please make sure your tablet is plugged into an AC power supply (wall outlet) before you turn it on for the first time. Do not power off your tablet during the startup / setup process'. The non-std charger plug goes into the micro USB port at the bottom of the tablet.
2013-03-22: the A700 box contains:
- the A700 tablet
- a charger (model ADP-18TB A), which gives out 12V DC, 1.5A. Input is 100 - 240V AC, 0.6A, 50-60 Hz. The mains plug twists on. To take it off, twist it 90 degrees counter-clockwise. The connector to the tablet looks non-standard to me.
- a micro usb to usb adapter
- a quick setup sheet
- a shrink-wrapped booklet 'Product and safety information'
2013-03-22: I picked up the package at the local pick up point. It contained one Acer Iconia Tab A700 (32GB WiFi) 'A700-10k32', and one Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard.
